Terhi ja Kristian ostivat Turun keskustasta kerrostalokolmion kesällä 2019. Ostohetkellä he suunnittelivat vaihtavansa keittiöön vain kodinkoneet ja työtasot, sillä ensi silmäyksellä keittiö vaikutti olevan muuten käyttökelpoinen. Muuton jälkeen he huomasivat, että laatikoiden mekanismit olivat rikki, ovien maalipinta oli kulunut ja laskutilaa oli käyttötarpeeseen nähden liian vähän.
Keittiösuunnittelussa vierähti tovi, sillä suunnittelu aloitettiin ensin yhden liikkeen kanssa, mutta yhteyshenkilön vaihduttua suunnitelmat eivät edenneet lainkaan. Oli siis aloitettava alusta. Kun Terhi ja Kristian astuivat Unique Homen myymälään sisään, heitä vastassa oli juuri heidän tyyliinsä sopiva keittiö.
- Tämä keittiö tulee meille, muistelee Terhi sanoneensa heti kättelyssä Kristianille. Kalusteiden väri, tyyli ja vetimet puhuttelivat molempia. Keittiön suunnitteli Tiina Korpi, jonka kanssa yhteistyö sujui mutkattomasti.
Uuden keittiön tyyli henkii 50-lukua, eli se sopii täydellisesti talon henkeen. Kaapit näyttävät paikalleen rakennetuilta, sillä välipuut on maalattu samaan sävyyn kaappien kanssa. Kaappien värin Terhi ja Kristian päättivät itse, sopiva sävy 1903 löytyi Tikkurilan Pro Grey -kartasta. Nimestään huolimatta sävy on kaunis murretun vihertävä päivänvalossa ja näyttää harmaalta ainoastaan illalla kun valoa on vähän.
Messinkiset vetimet on jo ehditty vaihtaa kertaalleen kun ensin valitut nupit osoittautuivat keittiössä hieman liian tummiksi ja mattapintaisiksi. Kirkkaampi messingin sävy sointuu paremmin yhteen hanan, työtason ja Artekin valaisimien kanssa.
Ensin ajatuksissa oli jättää tiskipöydän yläpuolelta kaapit pois, mutta säilytystilaa ei olisi ollut riittävästi. Lähes kattoon asti ulottuvissa yläkaapeissa on nyt riittävästi tilaa Terhin astiakokoelmalle. 
Aamiaiskaappi kätkee siististi sisäänsä kahvinkeittimen ja mikron sekä aamiaistarvikkeet. Jääkaappi ja astianpesukone on integroitu kalusteovien taakse, mikä tekee kokonaisuudesta harmonisen.
Hanan Terhi tilasi jo ennen kuin asunnosta oli tehty kaupat. Molemmat ihastuivat Tapwellin messinkiseen hanaan, joka patinoituu käytössä. Sen kaveriksi valikoitui Stalan K-Seitsikko -tiskipöytä, jossa on tarpeeksi iso allas uunipeltien ja paistinpannujen tiskaamiseen. 
Samaan terästasoon upotettiin myös liesitaso, jotta hygieenisen terästason ominaisuudet saatiin hyödynnettyä ruoanlaitossa. Saumaton terästaso kestää roiskeet ja pärskeet, joita väistämättä tulee kokkailun ja tiskaamisen ohessa.
Messinkisen hanan kanssa mätsäävä Kenno-kuosi on StalaTex-mallistosta ja se henkii myös 50-luvun tunnelmaa. Terästason kaveriksi Terhi ja Kristian valitsivat valkoöljytyn tammitason.
Terhin mielestä yksityiskohdat kruunaavat kokonaisuuden. Vetimien, laattojen, pistorasioiden ja valokatkaisijoiden valintaan kului tunti jos toinenkin. Sopivaa seinälaattaa ei meinannut löytyä millään ja Kristian alkoi jo tuskastua Terhin tuodessa aina vain uusia vaihtoehtoja kotiin näytille. Lopulta Pukkilan valikoimista löytyi kauniisti muotoiltu, valkoinen laatta. Asentajan ehdotuksesta laatoitusta jatkettiin välitilasta seinäkaappien yläreunaan saakka.
Remontti kesti yhteensä kolme viikkoa. Ennen asennusryhmän saapumista Terhi ja Kristian olivat itse tehneet purkutyöt. Kaappeja poistettaessa kävi ilmi, että keittiön yläkaapit sekä tiskipöytä olivat saneerauslaastin avulla seinässä kiinni, joten piikkaamisessa ja seinän ylitasoittamisessa riitti työtä enemmän kuin tarpeeksi. 
Terhi ja Kristian kiittelevät, että asentajat tekivät todella siistiä työtä eikä yllätyksiäkään juuri sattunut. Lopputulos miellyttää molempia ja uudessa keittiössä on nyt mukava kokkailla.
