Paritaloa suunnitellessa pinnoista ja materiaaleista haluttiin mahdollisimman ajattomia. Edellisen kodin keittiön tyyli oli ollut perheelle niin mieluinen sekä tyyliltään että materiaaleiltaan, joten myös uuden kodin keittiö mukaili samaa tyyliä.
Sivuikkuna luo kauniin valon keittiöön ja vaaleat kaapit heijastavat valon koko tilaan.
Perhe mietti ensin kokomustaa keittiötä, mutta päätyi kuitenkin jo hyväksi havaittuun tuttuun keittiötyyliin. Mustavalkoinen keittiö tilattiin Topi-Keittiöiltä, kuten myös edellisen kodin keittiö oli ollut. Keittiön suunnitteli Lahden Topi-Keittiöiden Sari Ruuska.
Avokeittiö avautuu olohuoneeseen, joten keittiön tyyli sopii koko asunnon tyyliin. Tähän keittiöön valittiin uravedin, jotta keittiön ilme pysyisi yhtenäisenä ja pinnat olisi helppo pitää puhtaana.
Keittiössä on näyttävät mustat kivitasot ja siihen haluttiin kestävä musta komposiittiallas. Komposiittialtaasta oli jo hyviä kokemuksia edellisestä keittiöstä ja siksi valinta oli helppo. Stalan musta kvartsikomposiittiallas oli mieluisin malli Stalan valikoimista ja allas kiinnitettiin tasoon kivitasovalmistajalla tasojen valmistuksen yhteydessä.
Tähän keittiöön haluttiin ehdottomasti myös musta hana tason ja altaan pariksi.
Perheen äiti kehuu keittiöaltaan pientä kaato-allasta. Siihen voi kaataa vaikka kahvikupin jämät, vaikka altaassa olisi likoamassa isoja pannuja ja kattiloita.
Kivitasoon on upotettu kvartsikomposiittiallas huullosasennuksena - keittiön allas integroituu kivitasoon tyylikkäästi.
Liesi on allasta vastapäätä saarekkeessa. Saarekkeen kohdalla huoneen kattokorkeus on niin ylhäällä, eli ainoa järkevä liesimalli oli liesituulettimen sisältävä liesitaso. Poistoilma palautuu takaisin huoneeseen saarekkeen alta. Mikäli liedelle kaatuu tai kiehuu vettä, liesituulettimessa on sisällä säiliö, johon vesi valuu.
Liesituuletin sijaitsee Boran liesitason keskellä.
Muut kodinkoneet valittiin luotettavaksi osoittautuneelta merkiltä ja ne saatiin yhteneväisiksi keittiön tyyliin.
Välitilan laatta jouduttiin vaihtamaan vielä viime metreillä, koska ensimmäinen valittu laatta ei saapunutkaan tilatussa kuormassa ennalta sovitun aikataulun mukaan. Koska laatoittaja oli jo tulossa, välitilaan vaihtui varastomallia oleva laatta, jossa on kiveä ja lasia mosaiikkina.
Lopputulos on ilmeeltään rauhallinen keittiö, jossa on kaikki helposti saatavilla ja tilaa kokkailla. Keittiön saareke on kätevä lisälaskutaso suuren ruokapöydän vieressä.
