Stala ottaa merkittävän askeleen kohti kestävää kehitystä ottamalla käyttöön Outokumpu Circle Green® -ruostumattoman teräksen tuotteisiinsa ja vastaa ympäristöystävällisempien keittiöratkaisujen kasvavaan kysyntään.
Jo yli 50 vuoden ajan Stala on ollut suomalaisen muotoilun edelläkävijä. Yritys valmistaa korkealaatuisia ruostumattomasta teräksestä valmistettuja altaita, työtasoja, tiskipöytiä, teräksisiä kalusteovien kuoria ja laserkuvioituja tuotteita, jotka yhdistävät käytännöllisyyden ja minimalistisen tyylin. Ympäristötietoisuuden kasvaessa pelkkä kaunis ja toimiva muotoilu ei enää riitä.
Kestävä kehitys on Stalan strategian ytimessä. Yritys pyrkii saavuttamaan hiilineutraaliuden vuoteen 2035 mennessä hyödyntämällä vähähiilisiä materiaaleja, vähentämällä jätettä ja suunnittelemalla kestäviä tuotteita. Tähänkin saakka Stalan tuotteissa käytetty ruostumaton teräs on ollut 90-prosenttisesti kierrätettyä, ja tuotteet ovat täysin kierrätettävissä elinkaarensa lopussa. Tämä korostaa Stalan sitoutumista kiertotalouteen ja vastuulliseen valmistukseen.
Vuonna 2025 Stala alkaa käyttämään Outokumpu Circle Green® -ruostumatonta terästä tuotteissaan, kuten keittiön työtasoissa, pesupöydissä, välitilalevyissä, kaapinovien kuorissa ja peitelevyissä. Circle Green on maailman ensimmäinen vähäpäästöinen ruostumaton teräs, joka vähentää merkittävästi hiilidioksidipäästöjä perinteisiin vaihtoehtoihin verrattuna.
"Valitsimme Outokumpu Circle Green -ruostumattoman teräksen tuotteisiimme, koska sillä on jopa 93% alhaisempi hiilijalanjälki verrattuna globaaliin alan keskiarvoon", kertoo Stalan toimitusjohtaja Pasi Härkönen. "Se mahdollistaa tuotteidemme tarjoamisen huomattavasti pienemmällä ympäristövaikutuksella, mikä vahvistaa sitoutumistamme kestävään kehitykseen."
Vaikka Circle Green -ruostumaton teräs säilyttää samat korkeat laatu-, kestävyys- ja mekaaniset ominaisuudet kuin perinteinen ruostumaton teräs, sen valmistusprosessia on muutettu päästöjen vähentämiseksi. Tämä saavutetaan hankkimalla vähäpäästöisiä raaka-aineita, maksimoimalla kierrätysmateriaalin osuus ja käyttämällä pelkästään vähähiilistä sähköä. Tämän ansiosta Circle Green -ruostumattoman teräksen hiilijalanjälki on jopa 93 % alhaisempi kuin alan globaali keskiarvo.*

Stalan päätös hyödyntää Circle Green -ruostumatonta terästä pohjautuu pitkään kumppanuuteen Outokummun kanssa, joka juontaa juurensa Stalan perustamiseen vuonna 1972. Yrityksen nimi "Stala" on yhdistelmä sanoista "stainless" ja "Lahti", mikä kuvastaa sen juuria ruostumattomaan teräkseen ja kotikaupunkiinsa Lahteen.
Tämä pitkäaikainen yhteistyö, joka perustuu luottamukseen ja yhteisiin arvoihin, on ollut keskeinen tekijä Stalan kasvussa. Nyt, hyödyntämällä Circle Green -ruostumatonta terästä, yritys ei pelkästään kehitä valmistusprosessejaan, vaan ottaa myös ennakoivan lähestymistavan globaaleihin ympäristöhaasteisiin tiimityön ja innovoinnin kautta.
Stalan markkinatutkimukset osoittavat, että asiakkaat arvostavat entistä enemmän tuotteita, joiden ympäristövaikutukset ovat läpinäkyvästi todennettavissa. Tiukentuvat säädökset, kuten Euroopan vihreän kehityksen ohjelma (Green Deal) ja yritysten kestävyysraportointia koskeva direktiivi (CSRD), ohjaavat yrityksiä ottamaan ilmastovastuun vakavasti. Asiakkaat suosivat yhä enemmän brändejä, jotka panostavat kestävyyteen. Ottamalla käyttöön Circle Green -ruostumattoman teräksen Stala vastaa tähän kysyntään ja erottuu samalla kilpailijoistaan.
Stala on sitoutunut jakamaan avoimesti tietoa vastuullisuustyöstään. Yritys julkaisee tuotekohtaisia hiilijalanjälkiraportteja ja kolmannen osapuolen verifiointiraportteja. Circle Green -ruostumattoman teräksen käyttö vahvistaa tätä avoimuutta tarjoamalla todennettavaa dataa ja elinkaarilaskelmia.
"Kysyntä vähäpäästöisille tuotteille ja läpinäkyvälle vastuullisuusviestinnälle kasvaa jatkuvasti", Härkönen toteaa. "Asiakkaat ovat yhä tietoisempia omasta ympäristövaikutuksestaan ja etsivät tuotteita, jotka vastaavat heidän arvojaan."
Stala tarjoaa asiakkailleen verkkosivujen kautta tietoa vastuullisuustoimistaan, kuten Stala ONE -tuotesarjan elinkaarimatkasta ja vastuullisuusohjelmastaan.
Circle Green on Stalan viimeisin vastuullisuuteen liittyvä ulostulo. Stalalla on jo käytössä CO2-vapaa tuulienergia Lahden tehtaallaan sekä biopolttoaineita kuljetuksissa. Yritys laskee tuotteidensa hiilijalanjäljet varmistaakseen jatkuvan kehityksen. Lisäksi Stala tähtää vähintään 0,5 %:n vuotuiseen päästövähennykseen ja aikoo laajentaa uusiutuvan energian ja kierrätysmateriaalien käyttöä entisestään.
Stala pyrkii yhdistämään innovoinnin ja ympäristövastuun suojellakseen maapalloa tuleville sukupolville. "Circle Green tulee olemaan keskeinen osa kestävän kehityksen matkaamme ja symboloimaan sitoutumistamme kestäviin ratkaisuihin", Härkönen summaa.
